This past spring, we at FPI had to do the unthinkable and cancel our spring conference due to COVID-19 (You can read our blog post about that here.). At the time, we thought we would put all of our focus on our fall conference in New Orleans. However, as soon as June rolled around, it started to become apparent that an in-person conference in October would not be possible.
Our members were surveyed, and the overwhelming majority were on travel restrictions – quite a few of them were until the end of the year! The same unfortunate choice had to be made yet again, except this time we were able to keep our New Orleans location and rescheduled for 2022. So FPI members still get to enjoy The Big Easy –it will just take a little more patience.
This left us in the potential situation of an entire year with no conference whatsoever! That’s something we couldn’t let happen, so the decision was made to have a virtual conference this fall. Using the same dates as the original event: October 29-30, we have put together a program that gives a virtual flavor of what our in-person conference would have been
FPI will be providing our biennial raw material updates, and regulatory updates for the U.S. and Canada. Of course, our informative semi-annual member meeting will also take place. The super networking that happens at in-person meetings will be sorely missed, but this was created to keep our members engaged and feeling connected, even if it’s through a screen. Information will be sent out soon, and you can always find the latest updates on our website.
As usual, FPI members will still be able to download the presentations from FPI’s website following the event. Members must log into the website to view (if you forgot your login, simply click the login button and click the prompt to send your password).
We at FPI are optimists and believe that 2021 will be a better year, where we can once again meet together as a group. Once our fall conference is completed, work will begin to create the best event we can provide our members for spring of 2021. When and where is that? We hope May 5-7, 2021 at La Fonda on the Plaza in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
In the meantime, everyone please stay safe and healthy.
