#FPISpring2019 Was Everything!

Ok, maybe it sounds like we’re bragging, but we’re very excited about growing participation in our conferences (a wonderful result of our growing membership!)  This one was a record smasher with over 100 raw material and machinery suppliers, converters, foodservice distributors and operators in attendance.

The combination of a great program and the beautiful location of Sonoma was a great draw to our membership.

We started the first day hearing from Robert Carlson of CalRecycle on California legislation affecting the foodservice packaging industry.  Tracy Heinzman of Wiley Rein updated us on the impact of tariffs on the industry.  Bob Goldin of Pentallect updated us on foodservice distribution, and what is next on the horizon.

The second day created some excitement with a focus on consumer perceptions of foodservice packaging.  We began by hearing the results of our consumer survey from Alison Dimond of TSN Communications.  Following that, we had an actual live consumer panel!  We got to hear from local consumers about their opinions on packaging – both good and bad.

Networking was epic!  We welcomed everyone to Sonoma out on the lawn at the Fairmont, where everyone got a chance to grab a drink and catch up with some of their favorite people.   The golf tournament was the usual big hit with some great friendly competition.

A big highlight of our conference in Sonoma – especially for the wine connoisseurs in our bunch – was our networking reception and dinner at Buena Vista Winery. How can you go wrong with delicious food and wine, then ending your evening with dessert and bubbly in the Bubble Room and wine caves?

Missed this conference?  No worries!  We have another one coming up in the fall:  October 24-25 at the Seelbach Hilton in Louisville, Kentucky.  We are already working on the program and will have updates available soon.

[Members, you may find copies of the speakers’ slides here.  Non-members, you are out of luck; only members may access the slides.]
