In a few weeks, the foodservice packaging industry –raw material and machinery suppliers, converters, foodservice distributors and operators – will gather for FPI’s Fall Conference in South Carolina. When will this be held you ask? November 8-9. We admit to being a little nervous a few days ago when Hurricane Florence made landfall, but we are happy to report that Charleston sustained minimal damage and is open for business.
Now we are able to focus on our jam-packed program and what it has to offer our members. On the first day, we will cover our biennial outlook on foodservice packaging materials. Whether attendees are interested in paper, plastic or aluminum, there will be something for everyone. FPI will also provide a valuable government affairs update to inform members of legislative areas of concern to the industry.
The second day will feature a presentation on emerging chains from Julie Heseman of Q1 Consulting. We will also hear from Erin Simon, Director, PSE, Sustainability R&D, World Wildlife Fund, and Eric DesRoberts, Senior Manager, Trash Free Seas Program, Ocean Conservancy regarding marine debris and environmental concerns.
Of course, everyone is always interested in the networking opportunities at our events. Our Thursday night dinner will be held at The Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon. What is that? Over the last two and a half centuries, the building has been a commercial exchange, custom house, military prison, post office, city hall, military headquarters, and museum. On Thursday, November 8, it will the location of our dinner with delicious lowcountry food!
On Friday morning, the networking continues with our breakout breakfasts. We have three separate breakfasts: one specifically for converters of egg packaging or food packaging trays, one for suppliers of raw materials or machinery, and the other for all other attendees.
So if you’re thinking about coming, sign up now! After October 15th, rates will go up. The direct link for registration can be found here. As always, let us know if we can help! Send me an e-mail and I’ll get you started!
